Nepal reports 314 new cases of COVID-19, tally surges to 3762

KATHMANDU, June 8: With 314 new cases in the past 24 hours, Nepal's COVID-19 tally soared to 3762 on Monday.


At a daily media briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population shared that of the new infected persons, 294 are males and 20 are females. 


Likewise, 20 males and a female COVID-19 patients were discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours, according to Gautam. With this, the number of COVID-19 patients discharged after recovery has reached 488. Of the discharged, 419 are males and 69 are females.

The spokesperson said that Nepal's COVID-19 death toll has reached 14 as of today. A 58-year-old COVID-19 patient from Waling, Syanja, died in course of treatment today, he informed. 


The government has conducted 10972 tests through PCR method and 156991 tests were carried out through RDT method as of today.


According to spokesperson Gautam, 166,668 persons are in quarantine facilities across the country. "As of today, 3260 persons are in isolation," he said.


The coronavirus infection has spread to 71 districts as of Monday, Gautam added.
