GORKHA, May 14: A total of 98.99 per cent of votes were cast at Samdo polling station at Chumanubri rural municipality-1 in the district that borders Tibet, according to election officers. Out of the total 71 voters in the village, 70 cast their ballot with one dead, they said.
The voting started from 7 am and concluded 9 am. Likewise, voting also concluded at another polling station at Chumanubri rural municipality.
Meanwhile, a centenarian cast his vote at a polling station at Chandra Jyoti Primary School in Gorkha Municipality-11. Nanda Bahadur Poudel, 104, reached the voting station with the help of a walking stick, said local resident Kishor Jungba Thapa.
'Voting on in peaceful manner'
Forget a scanty untoward incident, voting is going on in Gorkha in a peaceful manner, claimed the office of chief election officer in Gorkha.
Minor clashes ensued at polling centers at Gorkha Municipality-6 and 7 between cadres of ruling CPN (Maoist Center) and opposition CPN-UML.
