KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Vice chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Bamdev Gautam reached Khumaltar, Lalitpur to meet the party’s Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal following a split in the party after the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) by the party’s other Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
During the meeting, Dahal asked Gautam to join the former’s camp. Gautam, however, told Dahal that he is still in favor of party unity.

Following the dissolution of the HoR earlier on Sunday this week, the ruling party apparently split into two factions - one led by Oli and the other by Dahal as the two groups held central committee meetings and changed portfolios. The Oli-led faction appointed Pradeep Gyawali as the party’s spokesperson and relieved Dahal from his executive chairman’s role while the Dahal-Nepal faction expelled Oli as party chairman as a disciplinary action.
Gautam, however, did not attend any meeting organized by either of the two factions.
