NC leaders demand change in leadership

KATHMANDU, April 24: Leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) have asked party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to leave the post and pave the way for the second-rung leaders to lead the party.  In a meeting of the Central Working Committee of NC on Monday, the second-rung leaders criticized the current leadership for failing to give an ideology and leadership to the party in the changed context.

KATHMANDU, April 24: Leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) have asked party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to leave the post and pave the way for the second-rung leaders to lead the party. 

In a meeting of the Central Working Committee of NC on Monday, the second-rung leaders criticized the current leadership for failing to give an ideology and leadership to the party in the changed context.

“The current leadership cannot run the party anymore. We need a new leadership which can infuse new thoughts and perspectives into the party and re-energize the party rank and file,” said NC leader Chandra Bhandari, while delivering his remarks in the meeting. 


Similarly, other youth leaders also pointed out that the NC faced a humiliating defeat in the recent elections mainly due to Deuba’s lack of vision and strategy and his controversial decisions. “Deuba’s unilateral decision to pick candidates during the elections, misuse of proportional representation quota and the controversial decisions made by Deuba-led government led the party to a humiliating defeat in the polls. So, we strongly demand that Deuba pave the way for a new leadership,” said another leader Kamala Panta.
