Main accused of murder of two policemen in Kailali arrested

KAILALI, Dec 28: Police on Sunday arrested the prime accused of the murder of two police personnel in Kailali disrrict from the Phulbari area of Dhangadhi Submetropolitan City-19 in the district.

KAILALI, Dec 28: Police on Sunday arrested the prime accused of the murder of two police personnel in Kailali district from the Phulbari area of Dhangadhi Submetropolitan City-19 in the district.


Acting on a tip off, a joint team of police personnel deployed from Sudur Paschim Provincial Police Office and District Police Office, Kailali   apprehended Amar Rana, 34, aka Suk Bahadur, who had been absconding after murdering two police personnel at a temporary police post in Dhangadi-10, Jugedi - Police Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Govinda BK and Police Constable Ram Bahadur Saud.

Rana had been hiding in India after the incident.


ASI BK and Constable Saud were reportedly killed by a gang of smugglers as they intervened while some goods were being smuggled from India to Nepal. They were found dead at the Mohana River near the Nepal-India border in Kailali district. The dead body of ASI BK was recovered on October 18 while Saud’s mortal remains were found three days later.


The police, earlier on October 20, arrested nine others on the charge of involvement in the crime. The arrested were identified as Rohit Rana aka Parku, Rajendra Rana, Suresh Rana aka Chor, Raj Kumar Rana aka Gabbar, Ram Niwas Rana and Dalram Rana aka Tallu. Similarly, Rohit Rana, Gopal Rana and Rajib Gupta were among those arrested earlier. Rajib Gupta, however, was released on bail of Rs 150,000.
