KATHMANDU, Feb 21: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the concerned to vacate the government land in the Lalita Niwas area.
The KMC issued a notice today asking individuals, companies and organizations to vacate the government land in the Lalita Niwas area in Ward-4 of KMC within 7 days.

According to Section 97 (1) of Chapter-13 of the Local Government Operation Act, 2074 BS, which deals with the protection of local-level property, the KMC is obligated to safeguard, maintain, and manage government, community, and public property within its jurisdiction.
The Special Court in Kathmandu issued a verdict on February 20, 2080, involving 175 individuals, including the Government of Nepal and the defendant Kaladhar Deuja, in a case related to 'corruption in the registration of government land under names of individuals’. The notice refers to the confiscation of land in the Lalita Niwas area, KMC Ward -4, Baluwatar.
The notice states, "Within seven days from the date of publication of this notice, individuals, companies, and organizations residing in the Lalita Niwas area are requested to cooperate with the KMC in the protection and proper management of the government property reclaimed from the area."
The KMC further said that the failure to comply with the notice within the stipulated time would result in eviction in accordance with the prevailing laws, ensuring the protection, maintenance, and proper management of government land and property.
