KATHMANDU, Nov 17: The Kathmandu District Court issued an arrest warrant against Rastriya Swatantra Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane on Sunday for their alleged involvement in the embezzlement of funds from the Kalimati-based Swarna Laxmi cooperative.
A single bench of Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal of the Kathmandu District Court issued the arrest warrant against former home minister Lamichhane who has been under investigation by the District Police Range (DPR), Kathmandu since last month for their involvement in misappropriation of funds from the cooperative. Lamichhane was the managing director of Gorkha Media group which was found to be funneling funds from the savings of the depositors of the cooperative into the media outlet as per the report of the parliamentary probe committee formed to investigate the misappropriation of cooperative funds.

Lamichhane is currently under judicial remand at the District Police Office (DPO), Kaski, where their statements on their alleged involvement in the embezzlement of funds from Surya Darshan cooperative are being recorded.
