Karnali Provincial Assembly’s second session prorogued: two bills endorsed

SURKHET, Oct 10: The second session of the Karnali Province Assembly has been prorogued. During this session, the assembly unanimously passed two bills: the Karnali Province Academy Bill and the Province Civil Service Employees Bill.

SURKHET, Oct 10: The second session of the Karnali Province Assembly has been prorogued. During this session, the assembly unanimously passed two bills: the Karnali Province Academy Bill and the Province Civil Service Employees Bill.


The Karnali Province Academy Bill has already been implemented, with Province Chief Tilak Pariyar finally approving it. Meanwhile, the Province Civil Service Employees Bill has been presented to the Province Chief for assent.

Likewise, several bills were discussed during the session and were referred to thematic committees for further review. They are the Bill to revise the Karnali Province Sports Development Act, 2076 BS, the Bill to make arrangements for Karnali Province police service and the Bill to make arrangements for electricity service in Karnali.


Over the course of the session, the Karnali Province Assembly conducted a total of 39 meetings, as reported by Speaker Nanda Gurung. The session, which began on May 24, saw a cumulative meeting duration of 54 hours. The longest meeting, the 23rd, lasted for 3 hours and 35 minutes, while the shortest, the 38th meeting, concluded in just 7 minutes and 23 seconds.


The assembly also approved the province's policies and programs as well as its budget during the second session.
