BAITADI, Sept 5: A health worker has been arrested on a rape charge in Baitadi. According to the District Police Office, Baitadi, 41-year-old Janak Singh Dhami of Sigas Rural Municipality-2, was arrested on Wednesday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Giri informed Republica that Dhami, who works at a health institution in Sigas Rural Municipality, is accused of raping a 31-year-old woman.
Health institutes shutdown services in Baitadi
It is reported that a few days ago, the woman, identified as the victim in this case, filed a complaint at the Ganjari police station alleging that Dhami had assaulted her. The complaint was initially discussed and settled locally with the involvement of community members and representatives.
However, the victim has now lodged a formal complaint with the police accusing Dhami of raping her. In her complaint, the victim stated that Dhami repeatedly raped her under various temptations. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim is unmarried, while Dhami is married.
DSP Giri stated that Dhami has been placed in police custody and is being investigated based on the complainant's allegations.
