GBIA sees 46 flights in 11 days, serving 1,326 passengers

KATHMANDU, Nov 19: The Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) recorded 46 flights over 11 days. According to a report prepared by the GBIA office, a total of 1,326 passengers utilized the services during this period.


Thai AirAsia, Jazeera Airways, Qatar Airways, Fly Dubai, and Nepal Airlines are currently operating commercial flights from the GBIA. Among these, only Thai AirAsia and Jazeera Airways offer direct flights, while the rest provide transit services.


GBIA Spokesperson Deepak Bajracharya stated that the number of passengers traveling via international flights to and from Bhairahawa has increased recently.

He further said that the occupancy on Jazeera Airways’ direct Kuwait-Bhairahawa-Kuwait round-trip flights has been good. Similarly, he stated that passenger occupancy on Thai AirAsia’s direct Bangkok-Bhairahawa-Bangkok round-trip flights has also risen.


“Jazeera had previously operated regular flights here as well, and its passenger occupancy has been good,” Spokesperson Bajracharya said. “Thai AirAsia, on the other hand, has started commercial flights from here for the first time in a short period. Compared to those arriving in Bhairahawa, the number of passengers traveling to Bangkok is higher through their service.”


According to the report prepared by the GBIA, 170 passengers arrive and the same number of passengers departs via Jazeera Airways flights.


The GBIA office stated that Thai AirAsia, which had only two passengers on its first Bangkok-Bhairahawa flight, now has 14 passengers in that direction, while the number of passengers from Bhairahawa to Bangkok has soared to 79.


The GBIA office reported that the demand for passengers landing in Bhairahawa and traveling to Doha and Dubai via Kathmandu is gradually increasing for Qatar Airways, Fly Dubai, and Nepal Airlines, which operate transit flights.
