Five killed as under-construction suspension bridge wall collapses

Seven people were working on the site, while the remaining two managed to escape and save their lives.

KATHMANDU, Dec1: Five people have died in Rolpa after the retaining wall of an under-construction suspension bridge collapsed. Bharat Lama, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, said that the retaining wall of the suspension bridge being constructed in Sunchhahari Rural Municipality-3 has collapsed, resulting in the deaths of five people.


DSP Lama said that seven people were working on the site, while the remaining two managed to escape and save their lives.

The deceased have been identified as Duj Man Pariyar, 45; Om Pariyar, 31; Subitra Pariyar, 40; Aaiti Pariyar, 27, and Devi Ram Pariyar, 66. All the deceased are the residents of  Bahiri Gam, Sunchhahari-3. The suspension bridge was being built to connect Maula Bang and Bahiri Gam.
