Fire displaces four families in Katari

UDAYAPUR, Jan 11: A massive fire in Katari Municipality-8, Udayapur on Tuesday afternoon gutted two houses and displaced four families. The fire which broke out in late afternoon gutted the houses of Dilmaya Rana Magar and her son Purna Bahadur Rana Magar. Dilmaya and her other two sons Buddhibal and Udip were living in the same house by parting ways.

UDAYAPUR, Jan 11: A massive fire in Katari Municipality-8, Udayapur on Tuesday afternoon gutted two houses and displaced four families. The fire which broke out in late afternoon gutted the houses of Dilmaya Rana Magar and her son Purna Bahadur Rana Magar. Dilmaya and her other two sons Buddhibal and Udip were living in the same house by parting ways.


The fire had reportedly started from Dilmaya's thatched house and later engulfed the neighboring house of Purna Bahadur too. Ward chief Kamal Shrestha confirmed that the fire gutted two houses and displaced four families. 

Shrestha further informed that the fire was doused by the locals with the help of Area Police Office (APO), Katari.

According to DSP Meghraj Adhikari of APO, Katari, food, clothes, utensils and other important documents inside the house have turned into ashes. According to DSP Adhikari, Purna Bahadur had to bear the loss of more than Rs 300,000 which is comparatively more than the other families.


The fire victims are currently sheltering in the neighboring houses. As an immediate relief, ward chief Shrestha has provided each of the displaced family with a sack of rice. Efforts have also been made to provide the victims with more relief and permanent shelter, according to DSP Adhikari.
