Family courts to commence operations in five more districts from today

KATHMANDU, July 16: Family courts are set to commence operations in five additional districts starting today. The Supreme Court will inaugurate family courts in Morang, Dhanusha, Kaski, Rupandehi and Banke districts.

KATHMANDU, July 16: Family courts are set to commence operations in five additional districts starting today. The Supreme Court will inaugurate family courts in Morang, Dhanusha, Kaski, Rupandehi and Banke districts.


According to Bed Prasad Upreti, spokesperson for the Supreme Court, the expansion of family courts is part of the new fiscal year's initiative aimed at addressing districts with high caseloads.

The newly-established family benches will handle cases concerning property disputes, relationship maintenance, domestic violence, children's welfare, and guardianship.


Previously, the family court was launched at the Kathmandu District Court on October 9, 2023.
