Court sends five into judicial custody for NEA meter tempering

KATHMANDU, March 17: Kathmandu District Court ordered to take four Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) staffers and a businessman into judicial custody on the charge of power thefts.

A bench of Judge Purushottam Dhakal on Friday issued the order to take Suman Shrestha, Manij Shrestha, Bhagawan Pandey, Tahal Bahadur Karki and businessman Tapan Ghos into judicial custody for their involvement in electricity-meter tempering.


A team of Metropolitan Police Crime Division had arrested them in January on the charge of involving in producing bills of less than actual amount, tempering with the electricity-meter boxes by braking seals and providing special facilities to some handful businessmen and factory owners.
