Court extends Durga Prasai’s judicial remand by four days

Earlier on November 24, the court had granted permission to remand Prasai for five days. Similarly, on November 29, the court had extended Prasai’s judicial remand by five days. On the day of his arrest, the Court remanded him to custody for three days, citing Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act.

KATHMANDU, Dec 3: The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to remand medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai by additional four days for further investigation.


Judge Ishwari Prasad Bhandari’s bench extended Prasai’s judicial remand by four days.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) is investigating Prasai in accordance with the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063. Prasai had released some documents claiming that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has an investment of nearly Rs 32 billion in a telecom company in Cambodia.


A team from the CIB of Nepal Police reached Prasai’s residence and arrested him on the charge of cyber crime on November 19.


Earlier on November 24, the court had granted permission to remand Prasai for five days. Similarly, on November 29, the court had extended Prasai’s judicial remand by five days. On the day of his arrest, the Court remanded him to custody for three days, citing Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act.
