51,420 FCHVs serving people across Nepal

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Community Health Volunteers across the nation marked the International Volunteers' Day on Wednesday, which also coincides with the 15th National Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) Day.

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Community Health Volunteers across the nation marked the International Volunteers' Day on Wednesday, which also coincides with the 15th National Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) Day.


According to the Department of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Population, more than 51,420 FCHVs have been serving across the country.

Roshani Laxmi Tuitui at the Department of Health Services informed Republica that the FCHVs have played an important role in family planning, vaccination, safe maternity and health check up, delivery, as well as safety of newborns. 


“They also provide services in distribution of medicines such as bleeding control tablets after delivery, Vitamin A, dehydration solutions, zinc tablets and awareness campaigns about health and sanitation,” she said.
