ARGHAKHANCHI, Oct 13: A total of 41 Dalit families have been displaced due to potential risk of landslide at Bhujunge of Sandhikharka municipality-7 in Arghakhachi district.
Ward Chairperson Chura Bahadur KC said 161 members of 41 families have been displaced due to the risk of landslides. They have been taking shelter at a building of a local Chandra Prabha Secondary School.
The landslide has damaged a few houses of the village and some of these houses are at high risk.
700 families displaced due to floods in Tikapur
Assistant Chief District Officer Meghnath Upadhyaya shared that there is a need to relocate the entire settlement to a safer place. Arghakhanchi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Nepal Red Cross Society have distributed relief materials to the landslide affected people.
President of Arghakhachi Chapter of Nepal Red Cross Society Kushal Bhusal said 20 pieces of blankets and 20 pieces of mats have also been provided to Dalit families of Bhujunge. They have lost their houses due to the landslide.
Meanwhile, a person died and one another has gone missing after being swept away by a stream in the district, according to Chief District Officer Shashidhar Ghimire.
A total of 111 families have been displaced due to landslides in the district so far.
