Kathmandu, June 30: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) is printing 13,000 smart licenses again, as the information on the printed licenses earlier was not clear.
Among the 300,000 smart licenses printed by a private company awarded the tender for printing smart license, 13,000 turned out to be sub-standard as neither photo nor information on such licenses was legible, according to DoTM Spokesperson Tirtharaj Khanal.

Khanal explained, "In some printed smart licenses, unclear photos and information of blood group, name, address was found.” Many of such cards were already distributed to the license aspirants while many were returning the license and demanding to re-print, said Khanal.
The DoTM had introduced colorful smart license replacing the hand-written license some four years back. “The DoTM itself has been printing black and white smart license about which there has not been any complaints,” shared Khanal.
The service-seekers who obtained the illegible smart licenses need not pay tax for reprint and they would be provided new ones. More than 950,000 smart licenses are yet to be distributed by the DoTM due to lack of adequate equipment to print them.
